TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Association for Elections and Democracy or Perludem found 63 arguments from the petitioners at the 2024 Regional Head Election Results Dispute (PHP) trial at the Constitutional Court or MK about money politics. Perludem researcher Ajid Fuad Muzaki said this practice was mentioned by many petitioners in the implementation of general elections.

Based on the results of Perludem’s research on the arguments of the Regional Head PHP at the Constitutional Court, information about money politics is ranked fourth after procedural defects, maladministration, and administrative violations in a structured, systematic and massive manner by election organizers.

“This (money politics) reflects a pattern that was also seen in the 2024 presidential and legislative elections, where similar practices often occur on a large scale and involve many parties,” said Ajid in his written statement on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Previously, Perludem also found allegations of money politics in the campaign stage and quiet period of the 2024 Pilkada in North Sumatra, Central Java and Jakarta.

He revealed that the alleged practice was massive in the three regions. However, Ajid did not specify the amount of alleged money politics. He only said that the mode of money politics was different in each region. “The pattern or mode of money politics in each region is different,” Ajid said on November 28, 2024.

At that time, he said Perludem found allegations of money politics at the end of the campaign. Perludem found the mode of distributing cash through envelopes in North Sumatra and Central Java. The value of money is different in each region. “The amount varies, it can be Rp50 thousand, Rp100 thousand, and Rp120 thousand,” said Ajid.

The money was intended to vote for two regional head candidates, namely the governor and regent candidates. “So, the money is for one package. For Pilgub and Pilbub,” said Ajid.

Ajid said Perludem also found mobilization and intensive giving by organized religious organizations in Central Java. The leader of the religious organization directed the public to vote for one of the candidates. “Religious leaders have a lot of mass. So he gave gifts and gifts,” said Ajid.

In Jakarta, for example, Perludem found allegations of money politics with the mode of providing transportation and consumption money in grand campaign activities. The money was given after the grand campaign activities.
